25,000 to dance to the music as top names to rock Mosney

MORE than 25,000 people are expected to attend the first all-day dance music event to be held in the State.

It takes place at the Mosney Holiday Centre, Co. Meath, this Saturday. Homelands Ireland will host some of the biggest names in dance music from home and abroad over six outdoor and indoor arenas from noon on the day.

Dance groups like Orbital and Underworld, as well as DJs, including Paul Oakenfold, who has entered the Guinness Book Of Records as the most successful DJ in the world, will take part.

Other attractions include a DJ set by the Prodigy’s Liam Howlett , a live performance from Cork’s Bass Odyssey as well as the traditional funfair, bungee jumping and other interactive entertainments.

The brainchild of the Mean Fiddler and Home organisation, this is the third in a series of such events.

In addition, the organisation have just opened the doors to their new seven-storey nightclub and leisure complex of the same name in Leicester Square, London. A similar venture opened in Sydney, Australia last year. Until now, Northern Ireland’s Big Love, which had a capacity of 12,000, was the biggest dance event to take place in Ireland. However, this is the first time a legal event of this size has taken place in the Republic.

Dublin Bus are laying on buses for the event from O’Connell Street on the day. These will depart every half-hour from 11 a.m. and will also run after the event which concludes at 2 a.m. the following morning.

There will, however, be no special trains laid on for the event as was first anticipated, due to the demand on carriages by the All Ireland Football final on Sunday.
